Leeds Art Gallery: Exploring belonging

Leeds Museums and Galleries are working with young people from John Jamieson East SILC (specialist inclusive learning centre) to develop a sense of belonging, emotional understanding and literacy, and wellbeing in preparation for adulthood. Participants will be working weekly alongside practicing artists and are using collections artworks as inspiration for their own work. Collections are being explored through multi-sensory methods including ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) to support non-verbal communication and learners with CVI (cognitive visual impairment). Participants will explore and engage in multiple artworks to develop a sense of self and belonging within Gallery venues. We aim to nurture talent through the programme with peer mentoring and support.
